TELEPRECENSE REMOTE CONTROL RACES

(Still on going planning for Races.)

The Moon Society Phoenix is still working on the Teleprecense Remote Control races.

Check this blog for details as they develop.

We are still discussing set-ups, rules, equipment and sponsorship rules at this time and it appears that the races wont occur until sometime in the late winter or early spring.

All races will be open to all comers, however, judging maybe bases on age and type (cost) of RV Car. If you prefer to buy your own car and practice for the races, then you will need a three (3) channel RC Car that can be purchased at Walmart, Target or another store. You will need a minature TV camera, a transmitter, a receiver and a device to display the picture from the Car so that you can practice driving the Car by use of the TV System only.

In the talking stages are basic racing, advanced races, and the Lunar Challenge, race heats may be run against the clock and/or one on one or more.

August 2011 Moon Society Phoenix

Convention participation: 1) We will not be participating in CopperCon31 this Labor Day. 2) We will be participating in LepreCon38 in May 2012.

Selection of a Logo for a Chapter Shirt was unsuccessful, too few votes to select a logo from the three nominated logos.

The Moon Society Phoenix website has faulty documents uploaded due to coding glitchs. Corrected files should be up and downloadable by the time you read this post.

Pictures have been added to the website and more will be added as time allows.

There is a prospective forum that we are thinking about helping out on. The forum is "A Forum on Space Policy in the Post Shuttle Era", it will be sponsored by several groups with more adding their support for the forum. There will be a Panel Discussion followed by an extended moderated discussion. The Panel will consist of Experts in Politics, Planetary Science, Manned Space Flight and NASA Operations. Location and time are tentative at this point, but will be posted here and on the Moon Society Phoenix website when it is available.

Tranquility Community College

Tranquility CC is up and operational with the first subject posted with both a Manual and a Workbook. More subjects will be posted as they are available. Items may be down loaded and used for instructional purposes. All we ask is that when you use the various materials you give due credit to the developer/s and Chapter of origination.

If you have a presentation that you would like to share please submit it to Donald Jacques in pdf format.

PARTICIPATION IN CONS, RACING AND EVENTS

Con:

We need members that want to participate in the Conventions, chairing Panels on:
1) Lunar Science and Engineering,
2) Costing concerns,
3) Manufacturing Methods,
4) Mining Methods for both Surface and below Service.
5) Agricultural Engineering,
6) Human Interactions,
7) Living Quarters.

Racing (Telepresence)

We need members to help in the planning and conduting of the races, also includes developing the needed venues for the racing along Sponsorships.

Events

We also need members to help in planning new events and carrying them out.
